The Erie Humane Society is thankful to have beautiful play yards for our pups to enjoy. This area not only provides them a break from their kennels, but it's also a great place for them to meet potential adopters, work on training, and get some much needed exercise.
Due to erosion over the years, some of the fencing isn't has high as it used to be. Many areas of this fencing are only four-feet high, making it too easy for some of our more athletic pups to jump over. While making these renovations, we want to ensure we have adequate access to the parks for equipment to enter the area for regular maintenance.
The use of our play yards is very important to the health and well-being of our shelter dogs. Even with the most experienced volunteers, things can happen, and an animal can get away from their handler, posing a potential danger to the animal. Having this perimeter enhancement will help EHS make sure that everyone stays safe.
We are working hard to raise at least $30,000 by June 1st, 2021, so that we can replace all of the 4 ft. fencing with 9 ft., 9 gauge, commercial chain link fencing. Overtime, our goal is to add other fun enhancements to allow our shelter dogs to maximize their outdoor exercise and enjoyment.
