Our Facility
Front Desk
When first entering our shelter, you will come into our front lobby. The Adoptions team at the front desk are ready to greet you and answer any questions you may have. We often have adoptable pets take turns playing behind our front desk (they are really being socialized, but don't tell them)! There are also two private adoption rooms to accommodate intakes and adoptions.
Dog Kennels
- We have 30 dog kennels open for public viewing. All kennels have heated floors for when the weather turns cold. Six of those kennels are located in the Small Breed/Puppy room. The other 24 kennels are separated into an East Wing and West Wing. When the weather is nice, garage doors provide fresh air for the dogs during the day.
- Our small breed residents are provided with a soft bed, blankets, toys for enrichment, food and an endless supply of fresh water. Each large breed kennel has two adjoining rooms for the dog to walk through, a Kuranda bed, fresh blankets, toys, food, and a water bowl that refills automatically.
- The Humane Society property extends back to Walnut Creek, which is great for dog walks! Shelter dogs also enjoy time playing in our three dog parks, two of which are open to the public.
Cattery Room
- For our cats, we have 32 kennels in our public Cattery Room, as well as six public kennels in a separate room down the hall. Each kennel contains a litter box, cat bed or blankets, toys, and food & water bowls. Some of our cat cages have portals, allowing cats a larger living space. Other cats have raised Kuranda beds, which help create valuable space and provide a safe nook for shy cats to hide.
- We also have 6 kennels in our main lobby that can house anywhere from one cat to multiple kittens.
Clinical Facilities
The Humane Society also houses animals that are still in quarantine in our clinical facility. This area is not available for public viewing. In addition to our public space, we have an additional 14 dog kennels and 40 cat cages. When needed, our dog kennels can be divided to form two smaller kennel spaces and often, when animals come into the shelter together, we are able to keep them kenneled together.
The Erie Humane Society has a fully-functioning operating room, exam room, and grooming room, to service the shelter pets.
