Sponsor a Special Needs Dog
The Erie Humane Society has been inundated with special needs pets requiring advanced medical attention. Holding true to our mission, and providing rehabilitation to every pet in our care causes our limited resources to be strained.
You can help!
Sponsor a special needs dog, assisting with their cost of treatment. We will provide periodic updates and photos of your sponsored dog’s progress. You can also become an “in-home hero” and foster a special needs dog!
These special needs dogs will be available for adoption once they’ve recovered. Learn more below:
Ace

Hello, I’m Ace and I’m a 6-year-old Shepherd/Hound mix. I’ve been through a lot in the last 6 months, but despite that, I’m still a sweet and social boy. I was brought to the EHS after my owner passed away. I had a dislocated hip and the family of my late owner indicated that I was likely hit by a car. Because of my injury, I had surgery to remove a portion of my hip to increase my mobility and minimize pain.
I am currently in a foster home recovering from surgery!
Ace's Goal is $450.00
Annie

My name is Annie and I’m a 14 year old Labrador/Retriever mix. I came to EHS because my owner was no longer able to care for me. I have a history of orthopedic issues and a large mass on my shoulder that needs to be evaluated and possibly removed. At the moment, my focus is trying to lose some weight to increase my mobility and be evaluated by our veterinarian.
Annie's Goal is $275.00
Burger

My name is Burger and I’m a 4-year-old Pit Bull mix. My life hasn’t been the greatest, but I’ve taken it all in stride. I was found as a stray and was infected with Heartworm. I spent the last 5 months undergoing heartworm treatment and healing from some nasty wounds on my skin. Just when I thought I was ready to go, an abscess formed on my face. I was treated for the infection and the abscess was drained. Our veterinarian advised removing tissue left behind to prevent future issues and check for any other mass-like structures.
I am currently awaiting my scheduled surgery.
Burger's Goal is $275.00
Gage

Hey there! I’m Gage, a 12-year-old Greyhound/Boxer. I would describe myself as a charming gentleman with a rocky past. I was surrendered to the shelter because my family didn't want me anymore. I was in rough shape: flea infested, missing hair, ear infection and stiffness in my hind legs. I am severely hearing impaired and will need daily medication and supplements to keep me comfortable.
I am currently recovering from my ear infection and will be rechecking with our veterinarian soon.
Gage's Goal is $275.00
Maggie

Hello! I’m Maggie and I’m a 5-year-old Hound mix. I was surrendered to the shelter after my owner was placed in a nursing home. I have several medical issues that we are addressing. When I first arrived, I weighed 116 lbs. and I could hardly walk down the hall without stopping to rest. My goal weight is 55 lbs., so I have a long way to go, but I’m proud to say I’ve already lost 6 lbs. I’ve also suffered from skin and ear infections and a thyroid disorder. I know my recovery will be slow, but I’m making progress every day.
Maggie's Goal is $350.00
Reed

I’m Reed, an 8-year-old Retriever/Bulldog mix. I was surrendered to the shelter after suffering a broken leg, and my owner wasn’t able to provide proper veterinary care. My leg was badly broken and could not be saved, so we had to amputate it.
I’m now recovering in a loving foster home, and feeling better every day.
Reed's Goal is $475.00
