Happy "Tails" :: McLovens, Lovens & Wallace

Monday, Sep 25

Wallace, Lovens, and McLovens arrived at the Erie Humane Society on August 1, 2016 after our Cruelty Officer was called to an Erie Home regarding a suspected dog-fighting operation and an active fight. They resided at the shelter, held as live evidence, while we awaited a trial against the accused owner.

Upon conviction of the accused, the dogs were immediately surrendered to our shelter. And thus began the process to finding safe, loving homes for these dogs, who were deprived of such a home before.

When Wallace, Lovens and McLovens arrived at the shelter in August of 2016, along with four other dogs, it was clear that they all needed socialization. During the hold period, staff diligently worked with them to socialize, experience new things, and meet new people.

When McLovens arrived at the shelter, he appeared to be very timid. He was resistent to exit his kennel to go for walks and would typically lie down on the floor as soon as he got out. McLovens was fearful when taking walks and exploring the grounds of the shelter. Over time, McLovens learned to trust staff members and enjoyed running along the dog park fence with Lovens. It didn't take long for his carefree spirit to begin coming out and it seemed to grow from there.

McLovens was adopted on July 11, 2017, after spending 344 days at the Humane Society. His family reports that he's making great strides with learning commands, and even knows how to play fetch now!

Like McLovens, Lovens had a slight hesitation with new people and experiences at the shelter when she arrived, but allowing her to explore at her own pace helped her to open up. Lovens was a petite sweetheart who enjoyed playing in the dog parks and running the fence line with McLovens. She grew so much since her arrival and loved interacting with staff and the public.

After waiting at the Erie Humane Society for 397 days, Lovens met her match and was adopted on September 1st, 2017, to a wonderful family. She even gained a K-9 brother, as well as two bunny sisters, all of which were adopted from the Humane Society.

Wallace didn't need much time to adjust to being at the Humane Society. Shelter staff would agree - he was a fun-loving, silly, goofball and has stayed true to those qualities. He loved running in the dog parks and playing with toys as much as he loved laying in the shade, simply enjoying the fresh air. Wallace was loving and affectionate and captured many hearts during his time at the shelter.

On September 18th, 2017, after spending 413 days at the Humane Society, Wallace was adopted by a great family who has given him a large yard to run and play in and even a K-9 brother to share it with. Wallace has been adjusting well to his new home and his family has truly fallen in love.
